There's not much to lose in height by reducing tire size. Your present tires are 30" dia. The smallest truck tires you're going to find are probably 27" dia. 3" inches on diameter is a lot, it'll make your truck act like it's pulling 10% more gear ratio giving you a bunch of performance for a slight increase in fuel consumption. Unfortunately, it'll only lower your truck by half of the difference or 1.5." If ride height is really that much of an issue, and you do NOT tow or haul heavy loads, you might be better off doing a 2/2 drop, and changing to a 28" tire. That'll put you 3" lower with 1" less wheel well clearance. Problem is with 16" rims there aren't a lot of low-profile choices out there, most 16" tires are large diameter off-roaders. If you're willing to go to 17" you can find a lot more choices in the diameter range you want. Check out the Tire Rack's tire tech section, they have a size comparison chart that's a pretty good place to begin.

Good luck

Forget smaller tires. For one, it'll make your truck look really goofy. Best thing to do is drop it 2, 3 or 4 inches using drop springs, spindles, or combination of both.
