Reputable dealer/mechanic in Bay Area?

Hey everyone,

I need a recommendation for an honest dealer/mechanic in the Bay Area, Nor Cal. Pref. Oakland/Berkeley region, but I'll drive if it's worth it. My truck needs to be serviced for it's regular maintenance and I wasn't too happy with S&C Ford. Felt like I was being taken advantage of because I'm a girl.

Thanks for your help!

V

I go to Vacaville Ford and they seem OK. About 45 miles from Berkely.

Not sure about Vacaville Ford!!!

I have heard that Rio Vista Ford is a pretty good dealership/service department. I think that Ford of Fairfield isn't too good, but have had only one dealing with them.

Vacaville Ford pissed me off royally when I owned my 02 supercrew, but my last experience was acceptable. I believe they are under new ownership or management.

Regards!

The major issue I had was a paint defect on the roof. They had it repaired at a local body shop. They screwed it up royally!!! It took two trips to the body shop, and a total of 17 days to paint the roof. They never did get it right. I just gave up. The service manager told me "It's not like I bought a Lexus". It was like beating a dead horse. Also during that time, they replaced the head rest covers because they wouldn't stay latched. They installed them backwards.

I realized they were incompetent! But...

I took my new truck in to them for the front brakes. They fixed everything under warranty (new rotors and calipers), and seemed to do a pretty good job this time.

I think they are under new ownereship, so I may continue to use them.

BTW, what part of town do you live in? I am out in Brown's Valley!

Regards!

Thanks. Did you go to that body/paint shop over by Audio 2 Go? That place looks like a rip off on top of it being a dump!!

I live in River Oaks.

If you are referring to Jacob's, then yes...there are two body shops in that complex. Guess someone had an original idea!

Jacob's was their warranty shop at the time. This was back in 02.

I am an ex painter, so I was really critical, but the repair job was really bad. They actually burned through the paint when they were buffing it out. I never bothered going back after the second time.

I have a brother-in law that works at another shop in town. I begged to them to send my truck there the first time. I know their work would have been much better.

Regards!

You have any pics of your truck?

I'm looking to get my mirrors and door handles painted OEM. Maybe you can help me out (or refer me to a good reputable shop). Thanks.

Yeah, I have an album on here somewhere. I just don't have the time to mess with it.

Try Autocrafters. They do nice work! Also Rick's Autobody.

Regards!
