GIJoeCam- Thanks for the education. I enjoy learning this tips.

As for the personal attacks, they're distracting and really serve no purpose (in my opinion)other than to agitate. Can't we just either accept someone's recommendation or reject it without the insults?

Thanks - Peace to you all.(I know here it comes back at me!)

Customer: A dozen Moth ***** please!

Hardware store clerk: A dozen! You must have a real bad moth problem!

Customer: Naw. I'm gonna dump in my gas tank next time I fill up and get better gas mileage!

Store clerk: Are you crazy! Anyone knows that you put those things in your crankcase to prevent piston skirt varnish from forming.

Customer: No ****?

Store clerk: Yeah, it's ****, but for you, it's half price!

Mothballs!!!!!!! What a great idea!!!!!! And to think Ive been using moonshine for all these years. Now I can still get better gas mileage and still have moonshine left to get dizzy with. I think I know how it works. Does the odometer continue to register miles when getting pulled by a tow truck? AH-HA-HA

Red face

Hey yall. So am I a hick too? I thought I was supposed to be a yankee.
Mabey things work differently way out there on the islands. Mabey its the fresh sea air that allows the mothballs to work. Thoes of us here on the mainland are just a bunch of hicks. How could anyone here know anything about vehicles?
For the money we have to spend for our vehicles these days, I think it would be insane to follow a suggestion like putting mothballs in the gas tank! I would hope that everyone feels the same.

And how are you supposed to get 110 mothballs past the anti-siphon unit in the fill tube? This is entertaining ARUNOB ,,,,,98

Didn't you go to the site that was referenced? You're supposed to carry a stick to shove it down the filler tube.

I don't think so. Higher octane gasoline burns at a slower rate. For it to burn cleanely/completely, it requires higher compression and/or longer burn time (more spark advance).

The computers in our trucks can adjust the timing a little bit, not enough to completely take advantage of high octane fuel. Stands to reason that unburnt fuel is being sent down to the catalytic converters.

I could be totally off base on this, but I don't think so.

That George Nitta sounds like one of those guys who "THINKS" he knows what's best for modern cars and trucks. The guy is an idiot. He's got a major liability problem on his hands.

You should invite him to this forum and defend what he writes on his site.

Howdy!

Arunob,

Do you work for a engine rebuilding company? Just curious..

Have a roadside assistance day.

------------------
My ride:

Basics:
- '99 XLT F-150

Under hood and back:
- Ram air (Don't ask me how )
- AiRaid intake
- Flowmaster DF 50 Series
- 24x3.5" Stainless steel slashed tips (Yes! Solid polished SS, no cheesy chrome-plated)
...

Outside:
- Precision polished billet grille and plate holders
- American Racing 17x8s polished Pythons (Flushed front AND back)
- Goodyear.. something tires (Expensive is all I know. LOL. No Firestone firecrackers for me either)
- Rhino liner
- Ford nerf bars
- Ford bed rails
...

Inside:
- My girlfriend!
...

Fun stuff:
- Dual sirens Black Widow alarm system/keyless entry (Enough decibels to go deaf in a garage )
- Custom driving lights (Just a cool blue)
- 2 High-Watt lights behind grille (For people who cut me off )
- Dual horns (For people who, again, cut me off)
- Dual wheel locks (So I won't be driving home on bricks!)
- Spare wheel lock (So I won't have to use a brick as a spare )
...

Best of all:
- Texas A&M University aTm front plate! Gig'em Aggies!!

Wink

Not to upset anyone but if you want better gas milage buy a Chevy 5.3 V-8. I had both a ford ext cab w/5.4 and it idles so rough it feels like it has a racing cam in it.Anyways this thing gets 9 to 10 miles a gallon. The Chevy ext cab w/5.3 gets 17.21 miles to the gallon. Also let me mention no door cracks,no leaking head gaskets and it has all the options I paid for including the correct radiator.Don't get me wrong I used to be a true ford man but then I bought a Chevy and WOW what a truck.
