Interesting. All I can say is they have "had" speed limiters. Some trucks can barely hit 100 before the limiter kicks in.

Either they got rid of them or your truck is exceptional.

My Speedo only goes to 100 but I clocked it over a three mile stretch for accuracy. It averaged 109.72 over the 3 miles. I think it could have gone faster to! 110 is plenty fast for me in a 4x4!

Post Speed Limiter??

What is the speed limiter on a stock 2000 F150? I know I have had my truck up to 110mph and I dont have any mods that increase the speed limiter. Do these trucks have one?

Keep in mind that most of the OE tires are only rated for 114 mph. I ran my 97 4.6 at 100 for a 5 mile stretch once (just 'cuz I could) but couldn't get up the cajones to push it any faster. (That was a 4.6) Running downhill, I was able to hit the limiter pretty regular on one stretch of local freeway. Haven't tried it with my new baby yet.

Yeah, tire blowout at that speed would be pretty messy! Wouldnt mind seeing how fast it would go but not sure the cajones are there to take it any faster! So does anyone know for sure what the speed limiter on my 00 4x4 Supercab ORP 5.4 auto with 3.55 LS might be?

I know on my 97 F150 the speed limiter seemed to kick in about 95-98 MPH, at that fast I didn't want to take my eyes off the road for very long. Have to say it was just as smooth at 97 as at 65. Impressive for a 4x4. I have had mine to it's 100mph speedometer rating once on a long downhill section. Thanks

I think I read on one of the threads that the speed limiter can vary from around 95 to 112 mph. I don't think there is a set number. My '98 F150 with the 4.6 shut down at about 95 mph, before the chip.
There are threads about the speed limiter on the "computer chips" section. You might have to do some digging, it's there though.
Good luck.

Have not found limit yet in my 5.4 SCrew. I have hi-perf tires on it and buried the speedo one day, but the gas pedal still seemed to be working once it reached 100.

Hi Jeff, etc.

The factory speed limiter on these vehicles is no higher than 108 mph, with most of them set at 98 mph. The range is 98 to 108 mph. Every single one of them has a top speed limiter, and the only weay to defeat it is by reprogramming the computer with an aftermarket chip. So it's entirely possible that you hit 108 mph or so, but it won't do a true 110+, for that, the top speed limier must be removed.

The factory speedometer ends at 100 mph, but if you know how to convert the digital odometer into all the various gauges it can imitate, you can get a read-out of speeds above 100 mph where the speed ends. Or, you can estimate it by doing like Jeff did, and that's usually close enough to let you know you're well above 100 mph. Sounds like Jeff has a 108 mph limiter.

Just FYI...............
