Post Piston Slap again

Just got the word from the Ford dealer that my startup noise I hear every morning on my 97 Lariat, 46,000 mi. is piston slap. He said that Ford says there is no cause for alarm and it does not affect performance or life of the engine. He has not heard of replacing engines. I also heard that the 4.6L did not have this problem. Any ideas or thoughts on this.

I am at 38,000 miles and about 4 times last winter my truck made a loud noise for about 20 seconds. I think your post is the only 4.6L I have seen with piston slap, I also thought only the 5.4's had it.
Does piston slap sound like a loud lifter noise? I have only heard it in the winter so far.

Depends on where the 4.6 was made.

Romeo I think, qualifies.

You're gonna have to complaine and keep complaining till someone does something if you want something done.

First dealership I went to said they didn't know nuthin about no piston salap and I should gowan and git. (That was rusty eck, now Lubbers in Cheney KS knew right away and owned up to it. New FQR long block on the way.)
