Cool Very New at this

I just bought a brand new 2000 white F-150 Sport; and it's a 5-speed
What would be the best thing to start out for mods? I know nothing about tucks, only mustangs; and that is what I sold for the truck.
Thanks for your time
oh ya, it's the 4.2L

Selva1,
You have a very nice looking truck!
What kind of wax or polish do you use?
Like the results.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been on this board for 2 days and love it. I learned about this site from guys on the website I'm a moderator on.
My 4.2L has 205hp,right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Would a K&N help at all? I know it did for my mustang; it also helped in gas mileage a tad too.
I'm looking for both visual and performance mods. Nothing big though, just here and there things..

Thanks again for all the help

Cool

Thanks guys for the compliments, they are always appreciated. As far as the polish goes, I'm totally sold on the Zaino products. I've plugged them many times on this site because it's truly great stuff. You can check them out at www.zainobros.com .I believe a K&N filter is always a good place to start on the performance mods. You may want to go a step further and search this site for info on the K&N fuel injection performance kit (FIPK), The Airraid, or the Velocity tube. All three do more than just replace the air filter: they decrease other air path restrictions as well. I also have heard that the 4.2L V6 has 205 Hp, but I don't know how well it responds to mods. Elsewhere on this site, much was said about mods benefitting the 5.4, but not the 4.6, due to it's cylinder head restrictions. Hopefully, others will chime in soon with better 4.2 info for you. There is another post currently running regarding mods for the 4.2L. check out https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000079.html Hope this helps.

Fake,

You might want to start out with the K&N airfilter, then the superchip. The superchip alone adds about 25hp and 35-40lbs-ft. Congrats on the truck!

Selva,

Do the 2000's have triton emblems on the tailgate now?

fast46triton:
As cool as that would be, the 2000's still have the plain ol' F-150 emblem on the tailgate. I have however swapped mine out like many others for a fender (Triton V8)emblem.

Welcome fakefvc and congrats on your new ride. When I came to this site I knew nothing about cosemetic or performance mods for any vehicle. I've learned a lot from the members of this site, I've learned things I didn't want to know about some. The posts above are the general performance modifications;
Step 1 Air filter, I got the K&N FIPK in 2 weeks after delivery.
Step 2 performance chip, my Superchip is enroute from Mike now.
Step 3 cat back change, maybe in the spring or summer.
You'll find all of the above on this sites online store for a good price, Mike Troyer gives a nice discount on the Superchips for registered members.
Step 4 find a support group for your family, as a registered member you have joined a new family here and you won't be able to leave!

It happens on occasion, but nothing like what I've seen on other sites. I think it's mostly due to the class of people who visit here, and also because there are some rules. Some people have been banned from posting, because they are more trouble than they're worth.

it was a 97 Mustang/saleen look-a-like. I know the most about the 90-00 mustangs, not so much the earlier ones. But I do not have that much knowledge "yet" about the F-150's.
That is why I came to this site. Everybody seems eager to help, and friendly.

Congratulations on buying your new Sport. I'm sure you'll love it, as I do mine. Welcome to the site. Are you more interested in cosmetic mods, or performance mods? Either way, you've come to the right boards. For cosmetic mods, people on these boards have widely varying tastes, and most have a website address in their signatures with pictures you can look at for ideas. As far as performance goes, there has been a great number of people who like the Airaid Intake, the Superchip computer chip, and cat back exhaust swaps. Do a search on these boards and I'm sure you'll find more info than you know what to do with.
Enjoy.
