After 2 years in a coma my 2003 limited edition heritage will get a heart transplant

Hi Everyone,

So I'm one of those lucky guys that had a hydrolock occur from the PCM sticking the injectors open and just didn't have the money to sink into a new engine but I've finally put together the money and tomorrow my mechanic will be getting an engine from Powertrain Products. I opted for the 5 year unlimited mile no fault warranty since it also covers towing, $100 an hour for my mechanic if there's a problem with the engine, etc. This appears to be the best warranty out there that I could find and they have an A+ rating with the BBB so I figured it was probably my safest bet. I'll update the thread here to let everyone know how it goes with the install and how the engine holds up as I put miles on it.

Adam

My mechanic and another mechanic double teamed my truck yesterday and this morning. Install is complete. We did a quick turnover test and she purrs like a kitten. Finishing up today with some testing and I should have her back in a few hours! She's alive!!!!

Very nice. I have my 98 4X4 in the shop now getting a reman long block put in now. I didn't know their was a 5 yr warranty out there for a long block. I got mine for $2300(5.4) and 3 yr warranty. May I ask what the price was for yours?

@easy98 I paid a total of $2950 for mine. The engine with 3 year warranty was $2600 but I paid the extra $350 to get the 5 year no fault warranty. I figured for a bit more money it's worth it to have the piece of mind of knowing if anything fails on it for the next 5 years its completely covered including car rental for 10 days, towing, and labor to $100 an hour. Powertrain Products has an A+ better business bureau rating as well which tells me they stand behind their products and do what's necessary to ensure their customer is satisfied if a failure occurs. That means a lot to me.

VERY cool. Did you replace some of the existing parts as well? I've replaced things like plugs, water pump, hoses and belt. Was gonna do the upper intake but I couldn't find a dorman intake in time. Truck is supposed to be done in the next day or two.
