89 Motor Swap

Hey guys, I'm sorry to beat this horse again. I looked around on here for a week but can't find exactly the answer I need. Here's the scoop:
i have an 89 xlt lariat. 4.9, 4 speed (granny first). I received a free (wrecked) 94 f150 lariat 5.0, with the automatic (not sure which one).
My 4.9 is old but still runs pretty good, has a slight miss < irrelevant for this post. Anyways, my goal is to take the 5.0 out of the 94 and put that into the 89. Then put a t-5 behind the 5.0. Or if I can put the auto out of the 94 then I will. This 94 ran great before I tore the damaged front end off.
i literally have an entire truck to pull parts from, so how easy do you guys think this will be? I'm just trying to figure out which parts I'm gonna need to swap this over? I know you guys have answered this 1000 times, but this is definitely real and going to happen. I know the I6 is a great motor, but for my reasons, the 5.0 is much better suited. I would appreciate your vast knowledge.

The 5 speed manual has overdrive but it isn't nearly as tough as that 4 speed in the 89 right now. The 5 speed supposedly is a Mazda transmission. They are hard to shift too. Compare the specs on the 5.0 and the 4.9. The torque ratings are almost the same.

Since you have the donor truck, you should have everything you need to make the swap if you want to go automatic, but it will be a pita I'm sure, since the computer, wiring harnesses, and lots of other stuff will have to be swapped. If you have the time and energy, it will teach you a lot I'm sure.

A T-5 isn't a Mazda transmission, it's a car transmission.

I think your granny box would bolt to a 302, but you would have to find a flywheel for it.

Electrically, it's easier to keep the automatic with the 302, using the harness and computer from the donor truck. I don't think the 4.9 computer is going to play nice with the 302, and the 302 computer definitely won't play nice with a manual box.

Ok thanks guys. I would definately transfer over the computer. It has to be changed over. I've thought about bolting up the t18 to the 302, just not sure how drive ability may be. I would need a new flywheel due to internal/external balancing difference between the two motors.

If if I bought 302 motor mounts for the 89, the 94 302 should sit nicely right?

Shouldn't you be able to use the 94 supports? The 302 came in the 89s so fitting it in shouldn't be an issue.

Keep us updated on the progress.

If you bolt the T-18 to the 302, you are going to have a computer issue. The 302 computer is going to want to see an electronically controlled automatic, the 4.9 computer won't like the 302. You would probably have to find a 302 computer set up for a manual.

Flywheel is least of your issues, the T-18 was used in 302's and the 4.9 has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 302.

I guess I could use the 94 supports. The 94 had heavy front end damage, and seems like it twisted the motor on the mounts, once I pull it I'll have to see ( soon as it's not bone chilling cold). Just didn't know if the mounts were different bolt locations than the 89.

thats an interesting fact about the computer needing to see electronic transmission. I think you're right that I might need a computer from a t-18/302 combo. Dang! I was really hoping to use that comp.

You also have to see if the 302 is speed density or MAF. You don't need a computer from a T-18 combo, you can use one from a M5OD - and it has to match speed density or MAF.
