Re manufactured 5.4 Triton

I have the infamous passenger head gasket leak in my 2001 Screw Lariat F150 and rather than spend half the price of a new engine on a head gasket swap only to have something else go on me later I am leaning towards having Ford put in a remanufactured engine.

Cost is $6,800

Anyone know if they updated the problems this engine is prone to such as cylinder head threads being too puny? Chain guides, etc

thanks

Ask your supplier and it probably wouldn't hurt to get his reply in writing. I suspect that the engine is build to spec for that year with no modifications. If you want a modified engine then buy one for the year that included the mods.

$3,400 to fix an leaking head gasket???? I would think that for that price they could pull the engine and give it a complete overhaul.

That seems like an awful lot of money to have an engine installed. My '04 F150 needs an engine, and I got a price of $4700 out the door for an eagle automotive engine installed with a three year warranty.
