Looking for Newer Truck

Looking to replace my 2002 F150 which had the 5.4. Got over 220k and then started having issues with blown plugs and sleeves.

Want to get a 2013 or newer and the 5.0 engine. Looking for opinions on what I should be considering. I was looking at GM as well and they have a technology called AFM or automatic fuel management that shuts down cylinders under light driving to improve fuel economy. That kind of scares me even though it looks like they have worked the bugs out.

Any gotcha's on the 5.0 setup?

Thanks!

Much as I prefer the Ecoboost concept - I'd still take a Ford 5.0 over anything GM, Ram, Toyota, or Nissan makes. The 5.0 was proven in the Mustang before they adapted it to the F-150 and it's worlds better than the 5.4 3 valve.

I had a 2011 5.0, now have a 2014. They have been great.

If you do a search, you will find very few complaints about the 5.0. I put 85,000 on the 2011 and have 34,000 on the 2014. For the 119,000 I have averaged 19 mph with most of that highway miles running 75 mph.

I keep waiting for my 97 F150 to let me down so I can buy a new F150. The old girl just won't give up and I can't see getting rid of it until she does. My thoughts are with the F150 4x4 with 5.0 as well. My son is on his second F150 with the 5.0 as he tows a fishing boat for the fishing tournaments he is in all summer. Never had a problem and he loves the 5.0. My personal choice is the 5.0.

Thanks for the all the info. I was all set to go the GM route. It is funny- there are a ton of them for sale, but not a lot of F150's. It appears that everyone is keeping them.

Maybe I should have figured that out sooner!
