2001 4.6 standard cab F150

One shop quoted me today 175-220 dollars for just labor to change spark plugs and said it's a 3 hour job. Another person said it's an hour job and fuel rail would have to be loosened and raised. The three hour quote mechanic said It doesn't require loosening fuel rail. I was thinking about changing spark plugs because I don't know if previous owner ever did or the last time and I've owner this vehicle for 6 months . There's no check engine light on and seems to run pretty good. i figure changing plugs should increase fuel mileage.

I believe the flat rate book says 2 hours but it can be done a lot quicker than that. It's easier if you do lift the rail.

Whatever you do, use only Motorcraft plugs, NO antiseize, and torque them to 28 ft/lb.

Had plugs and fuel filter changed. Also replaced sway bar link and bushings. Running smooth now.
