Need help: removal of EGR pipe fitting, '02 5.4L V8?

I'm replacing the intake manifold on my '02 5.4 L V8 and need to disconnect the EGR pipe top fitting. What size is the fitting? Any tips on breaking it loose?

I don't know what size it is, but it should crack loose if you soak it for a while with a penetrant such as Deep Creep.

OK, thanks! I'm light on large wrenches, so would like to pin down the fitting size before making a tool run.

You should be able to do it with a good quality adjustable wrench.

Another idea - O'Reilly and Autozone stock a replacement tube, maybe you could go over there and sweet talk them into digging one out and trying different wrenches on it, when you find the right size, buy the wrench from them. Part number is Dorman 598-115.

Spray it down with some pb blaster type stuff, I think it is a 1 1/4", put the wrench on it and hit with a hammer (start light) to simulate an impact wrench. It should break free.
