Cam Phaser Noise Repair Kit

http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...epair-Kit.html

Does anyone have any experience with this kit? I've been reading a lot about the "diesel tick" and it seems nobody really has an answer on how to fix it. All the review on the website are good but I haven't came across a thread talking about this on a forum yet. Maybe I over looked it. Just wanting to know if anyone has had any luck with this kit?

Yes, there's quiet a few who have installed them - and opinions seem strong on both sides. There is an extensive thread about installing them here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...ery-quite.html

I (for one) am not in favor of it. There is lots of mis-understanding of the VVT System, - and even mis-information in the above thread - mostly concerning VVT operation and the Lockout's effect on low rpm torque, fuel mileage, and emissions. Our engines are applying some degree of RETARD in a majority of operating conditions. The lockouts place the cams in their most advanced position - optimum ONLY under HEAVY LOAD / ACCELERATION or at HIGH RPMs. That's not where you do most of your driving.

There is a lengthy description of all this in the above thread at: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...l#post15647418

Good luck, which ever way you decide.

Simply put: if you're capable of installing the kit, you're capable of fixing it the right way - assuming the engine is otherwise healthy.
