that old ticking noise>> 2004 ford f150 5.4L

So guys I have that ticking noise.. I have been reading a bunch on this topic. I have replaced both VCT solenoids (which were pretty bad) and that seemed to help the dieseling sound but there is still a tick. I am unsure if its a fuel injector, or the whole cam shaft phaser thing. i bought the truck over 2 years ago, it has 120000 miles on it, i run motorcraft 5w20 and motorcraft filter. Spark plugs have not been changed since I have had it. I pulled one the other day to see what it looked like and it came out pretty easy and was a Autolite HT15 and looked ok. Truck runs great I have had no problems with it. I posted a video on youtube, which i will post the link on here and see what input you may have.. thanks in advance.

I had the whole top rebuilt and it still ticks. The manager told me the engineers said it is normal and acceptable. It has ticked from day one and still ticks so I just ignore it.

Went to local shop, they said it was passenger manifold gasket and quoted me $700 just to change gasket..😨😨.... I laughed and said I can buy aftermarket headers with everything for $300 online and a case of beer and get it done in a day.

Thats outrageous, $700?!. I'd consider going the online route though. Which headers were you thinking about?

Looking at the pace setters which run $230 or the Gibson which are around $300-$360 range. Still undecided, yeah that was a quote from a local shop in Michigan were I live, but I am in Florida visiting my dad now and took my truck and the shop here said they wouldn't even consider touching the manifolds because they don't want to break the stud's.

The $700 quote was just to change passenger side manifold gasket...😂😂😂.... No studs are broken on passenger side, but shop in Florida said they wouldn't touch it because they didn't want to break any studs.
