P2198, white vapor, and loud knock

2006 F-150 XLT 5.4L 4x4 103k miles

So first a little history. In April my truck was running very poorly, with a misfire on cylinder 4. Turns out when previous owner had plugs changed they installed Champion plugs which I've been told is a no no. I installed new motorcraft plugs myself and it has been smooth sailing until today.

This afternoon it was idling while i was hooking up my boat and suddenly started pouring white vapor/smoke from the left tailpipe (true duals) and missing. It through a code P2198 which is O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich (Bank 2 Sensor 1) Code. I was going to take it to my local shop up the road where my buddy does hella good work. However, I went to start it and now it has a horrible knock and I'm scared to drive it (the shop is about 3 blocks straight shot). I'm embedding some videos, if you guys have any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I listed everything here, if you need anymore info just ask. Thanks guys.

White smoke usually indicates coolant/water, does it have a sweet smell?

Judging by the way it is puffing I would say the issue is isolated to one cylinder, and probably a head gasket. Is the coolant low or dirty/weird looking? Is it throwing a misfire code too?

No misfire code man. The smoke/vapor would completely saturate my hand in a few seconds. The coolant level has been steady since i bought it and i cant tell any change in color other than it being old coolant (and probably due to changed)

However its worse now. It sounds like something metal is broken and slamming around when you crank it.

As I dont feel like i have much to lose I may pull the valve cover off today after work and see what i can find. Is it possible the cam phaser went? Would that cause a run rich issue?

Well needless to say I'm now in the market for a used or reman motor. Dealership explained a stuck injector cause a hydrolock and I now have a nice hole in my block and puking oil everywhere when it's running. Of course they want $8900 to stick in a reman.

Sucks that knowing what I know now I see many threads of people with the same issue, could've saved me a little headache and a lot of money I'm sure.

So should I go with a local used motor (118k miles $2100 30 day warranty) or pay the extra $1k or so for a reman with better warranty? Opinions?

Wow, that is a lot of $$ for a motor from the dealer. I was quoted $5600 for a Ford crate motor from the dealer for my 2000 model 5.4

You should try to pursue that. Perhaps Crystal could help.

Well I tried that since my manufacture date is Jan 2006. After 20 minutes on the phone they told me the only thing to do is keep ahold of my receipts. Lol

It seems like to me that more than likely my truck would have the same darn injectors that the 05's had right? That should be enough for Ford to extend the warranty in my mind.

I would contact Ford directly and verify your truck is not part of the recall. January in the model year is actually very late. They start building the next model year in about June so a January build date is halfway through the model year at least.
