Help Please

Hi everyone,

Noob here

I wana thank y'all for a few years of gleaning info from f150online.

Now I'm in a little trouble

I drive a f150 4.6 5spd

She is more than just a good ridee but also my bread and butter.

The clock says 263K but a 80k ago ( from the previous owner) she got a engine rebuild / new 5spd and rear end gears,,, 6.11 's

315\75\16 inch tires I think off hand

17.5 miles a gallon on last drive to vegas.

I've done 35k in three years.

Goin on a road trip tomorro to Salinas to help an old buddy move back to the east bay,, yayyy,,, went to go fill the truck and she is sounding like a misfire.... Ughhhhhhh.

Got in and drove down the street and she is wayyyy under power and the sound from the flowmaster is like when you're in a four door sedan and only the back windows are down.

In live in SanDiego now and for the second time in 2015 its lightly raining.

Earlier this week I got a Non a/c idler pulley and a new tensioner pulley ( hoping it would fix the whine that sounds like a bad PS unit, which it didn't fix.)

Also gave her an oil change

That's the only thing that's changed recently

I'm hoping its a spark plugs/ coils what do you think.

Can I stick a screw driver by the plug to check for spark like on a carbureted engine??

Three hours till the parts store closes.

Thanks,
Luke

What year is it? Does it have coil packs and plug wires or does it have coil on plug?

PS whine is a common on fords. Friction modifier from ford, same stuff used in limited slip rear ends, add 1 Oz. to the pump fluid, should stop the whine after a bit.

Haha,,, all that for a fuel filter.

Put it in the next morning, ran fine , reset the computer, drove great to Salinas.

Loaded her up and blew the vacuum line out the back of the throttle body in Oakland.

I was near the exit I needed so I kept the rpm's high till I got off the 80.

A couple zip-ties later and back on track.

Resest the computer again.

Did 1500 miles this weekend half that loaded with furniture.

And the grapevine, twice.

$260 in gas.

And got $1000 worth of leftover furniture and hippie books from the move to sell.

After posting Friday freaking the EF out I read down a few posts and thank you to Kcward for mentioning a filter change in his post.

Looking at that first picture, I imagine the load in the bed smoothed out the ride really good, didn't it?

In all seriousness, glad you were able to figure out your problem and that the form members were there to give you a hand.

I would've have loved to see you cut the old fuel filter open and taken a picture of the goop inside of it.

Great to hear you are back on track!

When I get home I'll look for the filter.
