Oil filter adapter??

I beleive that this is leaking on my 2001 5.4. I have a question and I think I may now the answer but I am going to ask anyway. With the lower radiator hose incorparated with the adapter can coolant reach the oil? Im not seeing a loss of coolant nor is the oil milky, but I am just not sure when I can get under there to replace it.

Thanks in advance, Marty

Yes it can if the oil filter adapter gasket is compromised either internally, externally or both. What leads you to believe that the adapter is leaking?

Getting a oil leak from that area. Not from above, so i think its either the adapter gasket or coming from the oil pressure sender.

I'd change out the sender first.

I agree just be careful installing the new oil sender. You can over tighten it and create a crack in the adapter. Also be positive it is not from the oil filter. I know you said its not leaking from above but the filter sticks out away from the adapter and can drip directly down onto the it. Do you have a remote oil filter?

I can barely get my fat hands in there to remove the connector for the sender. I tried for an hour to get the connector off and got frustrated and quit. I just changed the oil and filter the other day. Really hard to tell where its coming from. No I do not have the remote filter.
