Exhaust smoke

My 010 Super Crew with a 5.4 lets out a puff of blue smoke when starting up after sitting a few days. It has 42,000 kilometers on it and does not use oil.
The local Ford store service manager says some do that.
Should I be concerned about the cats becoming fouled. The valve guide seals being bad would indicate to me the cause. My son has a 2008 Expedition with over 300,00 miles on it with no smoking on start up.
What are you guys thoughts on this?

It's slightly leaking valve stem seals, not really anything to worry about. How often do you change your oil, what brand and weight oil do you use?

Oil changes are done at factory recommended guide lines by the dealer

So that means about every 7500-10,000 miles then??

Is it a 2001 or a 2010 5.4??

My old 97 5.4 would puff out some blue smoke on a cold startup if the last startup was very short, or you didn't get the engine up to temp.. This was around the 150,000 mile mark, but I had that old 5.4 until it had over 255,000 miles..

For example, if I started it up, backed out of the garage to the driveway to wash it, then started it up and drove it back in the garage, the next morning startup, there would be a big puff of blue smoke..

If I would only drive it to the store and back (less than a mile away) and park it, the next morning, it would be a big puff of blue smoke..

But, if the engine was fully warmed up before shutting down, no smoke on the cold startup.

More info on your driving habits and how the truck is run might help with better answers..

Tte truck is an occaisional driver and is an 010, as for the oil it is whatever Ford recommends that is used by the For dealer where it is serviced. I have never seen the need to question them about the oil since they service my other Ford vehicles as well and have had no issues till this popped up.
The truck is never used for towing, ploughing os abused.
As I ststed in the OP it only lets out a blast of blue smoke at start up after sitting for a few days and does not smoke when restarted after that.

I wouldn't worry about it then.. If you trust the service manager on your oil change intervals, then you should trust him on the puff of smoke at startup, as some will just do that..
