mustang 5.0 engine swap
Hello! I've been reading this forum and getting useful info here for a bit, but just recently joined so I could ask this knowledgeable community a few questions!
Has anyone ever done an engine swap using a 94-95 mustang GT 5.0 as a donor? I just so happen to have a 95 mustang GT with a 5 speed and am planning on dropping the engine into a bronco. My question is, how much of the wiring harness will I need to keep? Obviously, I've pulled the engine computer (EEC) and complete harness from under the hood. Is there anything under the dash that I can't run this engine without?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that era stang had the 4.6 in it. The old 5.0 was the push rod "302". The new 5.0 is a completely different engine.
If it's a Bronco from the late 80's to around the early 90's or older, the old push rod 302 should drop right in, since they came stock with them.
Really, you can put any engine into any vehicle... Just depends on how much time and money you have..
Good luck!

Nope push rod 5.0 was still used

I think you're both right. The 4.6L was introduced with the new body style in '94, but only as the standard V8. The GT retained the 5.0 for '94 and '95.
Anyhow, as I mentioned, I have the 5.0 (pushrod 302) sitting on an engine stand ready to be dumped (okay, mounted!) into a 1971 bronco. The original engine is the 302, so the engine mounts will work without modification. A huge benefit!
My question regards the wiring harness. I've pulled the entire harness from under the hood, including the EEC, CCRM, and power distribution module. Do I need anything from under the dash to make it run? I've still got the mustang, but want to be sure I don't need anything else (like maybe the instrument panel?) before I recycle it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've got everything I'll need to get the engine running, since I've got the donor mustang still. I just wanted to avoid the pain of pulling wires from underneath the dash and God knows where else in that mustang if I don't have to!
One other challenge I know I'll have is adapting the T5 manual tranny to the dana 20 t-case. Apparently, Advance Adapters used to make such an adapter, but no longer supplies it. I've a mind to make my own, though if I could find a used adapter from somebody I'd be willing to pay a few hundred to save myself the hassle of fabricating one.
