P1309 miss fire undetectable code

Hey guys!

My truck is pulling this code seems from the research I've done it's causing the truck to intermittently go out of timing causing pretty bad missfire. I love tested the crank position sensor and that's fine from what I'm hearing it could possibly be the camshaft sensor or PCM issue. Just wondering if any one has ever delt with this issue before. It seems in common and since I've never removed the cam shaft sensor synchronizer that could not be the issue. It's a 2001 4.6 2v 4x4. I've diagnosed as far as my skill set allows just figured I'd ask before I brought it in to have a more Indepth diagnostics run. Any one know where this camshaft sensor is located? I'm thinking it's more than likely under the intake manifold (which I hate removing)!

Thanks in advance guys!

Most likely the camshaft position sensor.

There's a thread in the 97-03 forum where there's a link to download the factory shop manual, start at the end of the thread and work back. I personally don't know exactly where the CMP is.

The camshaft position sensor on my 97 4.6 is in the front cover, drivers side.
