A question for those of you with experience pulling these engines: Can I swap the engine without discharging the A/C system? I have seen that some folks with other displacement ford engines say its possible to perform the swap by un-mounting the a/c compressor and swinging it away during the swap. Is this also the case on a 2006 4.6?
My haynes manual has me discharging the A/C and removing most of the components to remove the engine.

 

Yes. Unbolt the compressor from the engine and leave it in place.
