1993 F150 4x4 5.8L Rear main seal
I've had some oil seepage from the rear main seal for quite some time, along with a sound through the passenger window at speed that I thought was an exhaust leak.
Upon closer inspection, I see the exhaust from the manifolds through the cat to just before the muffler is in pretty good shape. The exhaust is seperated from the front of the muffler. This is a single exhaust.
My question is; would a leaking rear main seal make a sound at all similar to an exhaust leak?
Thanks.

I'll pull the transmission inspection plug on the bell housing today to try and confirm the seal leak. I already planned a visit to the shop to have the the transmission serviced (137k miles on it), and they said they will pull it out, replace all of the seals, and replace the rear main seal, all for $500...which seems pretty reasonable.
