Throttle body: to clean or not?

I'm tracking down a fast idle issue, and it's been suggested to clean the throttle body (136k miles), while at the same time I've seen warnings to never clean it, as it is designed with some sort of anti-gunk coating that will be damaged if cleaned.

Opinions?

Thanks.

It should be done. I've done it on my 02 and plan on doing it again on my 07 at 100,000. They say you actually wanna get that anti-gunk off their.

It's a 93 351 with 136k miles.

Thanks.

You're fine. It's really two different subjects that could have been covered in the original thread, but not a big deal.

I cleaned my throttle body at 100,000?due to the engine going into fail safe. Had no choice. I believe in it.

I subsequently discoverd a post indicating that the TBs that should NOT be cleaned have some sort of yellow warning sticker on them.

I'll do mine tomorrow.

Thank you gentlemen.
