New engine or not

While driving my 06 f150 I noticed I had to let off gas to get into over drive took it to someone with more knowledge then me to look into it he took it for test drive and accelerated heavy didn't have much power when he let off the truck started running really rough and wouldn't accelerate then cut out no cel came up it did start back up and started running fine so he tried it again with same result but this time it didn't start back up any help

Needs more punctuation, periods and capitalization!

Also need to find out what's wrong with motor BEFORE deciding to replace it lock, stock and barrel. It could turn out to be something that's cheap and simple. I'd start with a compression test and a vacuum meter test. Those two will tell you the basic mechanical condition of the engine. Post results here. How many miles total and how many since timing belt/chain was replaced? Ditto spark plugs. WHAT ENGINE?
