swapping out 5.4

swapping out 5.4

Have a 98 5.4 flushed it out and over heated, thremostat mangles, bad head gaskit leak ( watere pouring out the tail pipe ) knocking middle of motor ? cam lobe crack ?

anyway I have a 5.4L from an 05 to 10 F150 Ones a two valve and ones a three, but I have to whole truck computor ect.

Can I swap them ???

2V 5.4s are from 97-03. 3Vs are from 04-08, and 4V are from 09-10. That info needs to be sorted out first

Is it possible if a 3 or 4 valve
motor should fit
If change whatever electronics
will it run

also the 98 ws bifuel but I took out the propane

swapping to 3v is not practical. it might be possible with a whole lot of modification. Much better looking for 2v engines. 97-03 in F150's. You could make a 2v out of a E van work but you would need an intake out of a PI truck. 98 is non PI so your intake wont swap to a newer PI engine.

4v's were not used until 5.0 in 2011. 3v's were still in 2009 and 2010 but had upgraded 20hp.

If you have a 05 or later 5.4 2 valve, it's out of an E-van. You can swap it, but you will need a PI truck intake.

the motor is a 4.6 04 from the vin 1FTRF12W94NR08145

something is wrong wrote the vin wrong but the motor and year is there

no computor was smashed or removed Think it wil work if not I have to buy another truck this is my spare thanks for the comments

The 12th digit should be B and not a R. 1FTRF12W94NB08145

going to give it a shot both 2 valve exhaust has to be modified see waht happens

There is no 4v 5.4 that went in trucks... 3v 5.4 2004-2010. They never put the 3v in the van, so E series van 5.4 and 4.6 were 2v from whenever they changed them, 1997 I think until 2014
