1994 F-150 4x4,,run's 15 mins then shuts off.

Hi,have a 94 ford ,I changed the battery in it,then the air bag light started to flash,after that happened it will run 15 min's and then it startsto back fire and spuder and then the engine dies.wait a few nins and it starts right up again for another 15 mins and dies again,thanks for any advise you can give me what's going on with it.

During that few minutes when it won't start check and see if you are getting spark through the spark plug wires while cranking the engine. I suspect you are losing spark, but need to know for sure.

If it started after you replaced the battery, check for a loose connection to the battery. Make sure them cables are clean and tight.

The ignition module is mounted on the distributor on the front where it heats up and suffers from voltage breakdown from the hot air coming through the radiator or at least it was on the 86 302 I used to have. i've heard of people buying a cold drink and pouring it on the module to cool it off so it will work. If you are currently in the frozen north then this may not be it. Maybe the 94 is different. I don't remember looking for that on the 94 302 I had.

NOPE. They moved the ignition module off the distributor and put it near the driver side fenderwell, for the very reason you stated, starting in 1992 I believe.

did they really move the ignition distibuter off the flywheel? And for the very same reason, it started in 1992 (fendleyweely.

Hey masseyman, me again, did that really happens in the first few minutes? i'll have to go that a byall. And i am getting spark through them spark plug wires. and there all cranking good. and i already tested it i am not loing spark a tall. just thought you needed to know for sure.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?
