My Ford Service Manual disagrees with you "Note: The DPFE sensor, EGR vacuum regulator (EVR) solenoid, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and the EGR valve itself are integrated into one unit in the ESM EGR assembly"

It's called camshaft retardation for short.

Buddy.

IF you have a 2004-2010 5.4 L 3V engine, you do NOT have an EGR system, or ANY of it's ancillary components.

It is ALL handled via the PCM - VCT control.

Look elsewhere.

If you insist on believing otherwise, I/we cannot help you.

I challenge you to find an EGR valve or DPFE device on yer 5.4 3V engine.

I WILL eat my Depends - soiled or otherwise - IF you can provide definitive proof.

Be advised - I HAVE already exhaustively surveyed my entire engine compartment and ALL relevant factory documentation regarding this and have confirmed my findings.

Be prepared to eat Caca , lol. J/K

Papa Tiger nailed it, in essence

I had 0420 and 0430 show up at the same time. Upon advice here, I changed out 3 of my O2 sensors (passenger side rear must have had fouled threads from the cats being put in).

Immediately I had codes for driver side heater circuit malfunction and passenger side stuck lean on the forward sensors. Fast forward 6 months (I don't drive it much) and I replaced both front O2 sensors again and no codes are showing up at this time.

Thanks for the advice Shuler. For now I'm going with some new crank & cam sensors (and if I still have 0430 I'll get some O2 sensors)

Crap. sorry about that. Yea the one piece EGR system I referred to came in 04. But, I guess that was for the other V8. That's why it's in the manual.

MGD informed of this before, but it didn't take. Hope I didn't waste to much of your time. :o

Pull spark plug on #5 see if it is black, carboned bad/soot. If it is clean and looks normal look for another problem. Not an injector problem. If camshaft is loose/ broken chain tensioner/guide there will be cam codes probably. Since your confident it isn't a bad catz and you have no O2 codes look to a bad COP/connection or transformer coil. (s)/ cracked sparkplug. Use a mister at night/ spray a fine mist/don't wet the plugs/cops/ simply a mist in the air around them/closely/ If you see a blue glow/spark you have a leakdown in insulation. The cop is burnt or the plug is cracked.

Neg. Still have original alternator. Were you thinking of that TSB where the alternator is throwing codes?

OK I'll check, but just last week put in new COPS and Plugs. And I did have an P0430 code a day or two ago that hasn't returned, yet..

Adding to my list: Now I have raw fuel smell on startup. I love my truck, why does it hate me?

Now P0305, put an old coil in. Ok for about 20 min then knock, misfire then P0305. I dont have tools for compression test. I think i'll pull drivers side VCT and have a look. Sure sounds like something screwing with timing
