plugs changed at dealer

so i have no idea if previous owner ever changed plugs and i'm throwing codes for a #6 cyl misfire 130,000 mls on motor and no leslie tool to be had.

i called the first dealer _ $400 PLUS $100 for each plug THEY break off

2nd deal wanted $250 plus $15 for plug they break off ($100 max if all 8 broke)

so it went to 2nd dealer - no broken plugs, and they accepted cuopons from they ford.com site for oil change and some other work and they did 2 recall notices while they had it... all totaled $373 and all done on the same day.

shout out to groove ford in centenial CO.

Tell all your Ford friends in the area. We all need dealers who look out for the consumer.

Awesome price, around here I think you would have paid that much for an oil change!

What a great deal, my dealer wants about $400 and broken plugs $50 each.

Here it's about $275 including 2 free extractions, with more billed at actual clock time ($85/hr).

How in the hell can they charge extra for breaking the plugs? Isn't that why they have a tsb and special tool for removal. If they break it they should fix it with out extra cost.

Where the fork have you been?

This horse isn't just dead, it's just a stain in the dirt, lol.

Than can and they do. Ford never acknowledged this as a widespread problem ( redesign, TSB, change interval update and Rotunda extraction tools notwithstanding ).

The dealer has no recourse but to charge ... as Ford will NOT reimburse them.

Some dealers use a retardedly high price just to turn away work they really do not want to entangle themselves with. Other are angels in comparison. Up to the truck owner to find the angels.

Same here--first local dealer said $479, plus $50 per broken plug.

So I called another local dealer and had it done for $209, AFTER taxes. They wanted $50 per broken plug, but fortunately I have the good ol 2v 4.6

Btw, my angel was Country Ford in Southaven, MS. First dealer was Homer Skelton in Olive Branch, MS.

They didn't even bother to ask if it was a 5.4 or not? Sounds like their blade is more than just a little dull!

My dealer told me 800-900 to change the plugs. They said if they break off then they have to remove the head to get the rest of the plug out. I told them bulls***.

$800 - $900 . They should be charged with a crime. Extortion. I had mine done at the dealer for $189. none broke.
