So i have a bit of a situation at hand here. Yesterday my truck threw the codes P0345 and P0349, and it idles and runs like s***! I cleared the codes and restarted the engine 3x total, the same codes appeared all 3x.

Ive read many possibilities, but ive checked all connections so i dont believe its electrical related. The truck does start and idle, but its horrible and not really drivable.

So im wondering if my timing chain may have jumped? I do have the ability to datalog with my x3 and view them, does anyone know how i could determine if my engine timing was off via datalog? If so this would be an easy way to determine without having to pull the timing cover, etc.

 

Also the passenger side exhaust sound is perfectly normal, but the driver side exhaust sounds like its missing and is just completely unnatural sounding compared to normal.

I should also note i swapped the bank 1 and bank 2 sensor, and it still resulted in a bank 2 error, so the sensor is not bad.

I guess im trying to determine if timing is off or if there is an electrical connection problem somewhere. If anyone has pinouts of the pcm plugs as well that would help me, so i can check it with my fluke.

 

Do you know what kind of truck it is ? See if you can figure out which engine it has as well.

OK, I'll GUESS....it's an 04+ with vct, so datalog all four pids under variable cam...just a guess.

As you can see, they say it's not a slam dunk, BUT at least it does give SOME help, whether it's usable for you or not, we can only hope possibly. The price was right anyway.

 

Yeah ive researched the codes all freakin day, still doing it at the moment. Im fairly certain its a timing issue, but i would love to verify that via a simple datalog rather than pulling the cover to find its not timing related. im just not sure what to look at on the datalog to determine if my timing is off some.

Tomorrow ill start fine tooth combing my wiring to try be more certain its not the issue. But again if i knew what to look for on the datalog it would save a lot of trouble.

BTW- I have know idea why the the OP thinks the Timing chain has jumped. That just doesn't happen. If so, that's news to me.

He has a CPS problem. Change the sensor.

 

Ive switched sensors on bank 1 and 2, and got the same results so the sensors arent bad, i think. Im going to tripple check continuity, connections, and sensors tomorrow.

Does anyone have the pinout for the pcm plugs to check sensor-to-pcm continuity? I just started searching for it. Ill post back tomorrow and go from there.
