Question Poor Francine

I replaced the intake manifold gaskets in my 1992 Ford F150 4X4 named Francine. I did not mark the distributor location before I removed it. I have put it back in. I have the firing order correct and the direction also correct. She does turn over, but won't fire. I also have tried to rotate the distributor shaft 180 degrees and still no joy. Any suggestions?

Generally speaking, the rotor should be pointing towards the #1 cylinder with the motor at TDC. If the engine doesn't fire, then mark the rotor it and rotate 180°.

Not 100% that this applies to you, but it should.

also make sure that the #1 spark plug wire is directly above the rotor and take your firing order from there...

if it is a 92 chances are the harmonic balancer/torsional damper inertia ring has slipped on the hub and TDC is not longer TDC-

Find TDC by by removing the spark plug and using a wood dowel/stick in the spark plug hole, slowly rotating engine to determine TDC.
Remark TDC on the balancer and try reinstalling distributor per the other posts. Remember that the cam has helical gear and will rotate the rotor as the diastibutor is being installed. Rotate engine twice with a socket /breaker bar on the crank bolt to new TDC mark and check rotor position with respect to # 1 on the distributor body. Rotate distributor to align rotor with #1. Some distributors have a mark on the body where #1 is and others don't - you may need to mark the distributor body.

This has always worked- really is no need to mark the distributor and manifold.

Alright, I had a friend come over and i did it the old fashioned way. I had him turn over engine and waited for the cylinder compression to blow my finger out of the hole. Ithink I have weak spark. I tested it with a screw driver in the spark plug hole and got it close to ground. It just king of fizzled. I tried a new coil pack and still no joy. Any suggestions?

I am going to test voltage to the coil pack. If that tests ok, then I am going to try replacing the condensor.

It could be the ignition control module on the distributor acting up.
