Question about the 4.6

Hey guys, I've got one quick question. I'm in the market for a new set of wheels and If i get them, after my current set of tires wear out, I'd like to move up to 35's. Has anyone had any problems running 35's with the 4.6? Thanks.

Yeah, I was hoping that could be avoided though. Haha. It's a little pricey. I work at a decent sized shop that my Dad owns so I'd get a good price on it plus no labor. Would a tuner with custom tunes work instead of re-gearing though.

regearing will take away some of the strain off the power train....a programmer with custom/canned tunes cannot.....

I just re-geared my 4.6 F-150 with 4.56's. I have'nt put on my bigger tires yet, but Im pretty sure I wont be able to make any more road trips in that pickup. 2500rpm at 65mph. You might want to consider 4.11's. Ring, pinion and full install kit was under $300.

2500 rpm at 65 is no big deal with an engine that redlines at 5400 rpm............that's still well below the torque peak of the 4.6.

That was the cost of the parts I used. I paid another $100 for labor that included replacing the bearings.
