An f150 has never been avalable with a "4.9L"

4.2 L V6
4.6 L V8
5.4 L V8
And many others, but those are the three avalable for the 97-03 model trucks.

Wrong. There have been Millions of F-150's made with the 4.9 just not since at least 96.

So, what do you have, Robert? Do you have a 96 or earlier with a 4.9 or do you have a 97 with a 4.2, 4.6, or 5.4?

I remember they were in some of the way back pickups, they were around for a while.

my bad,it is a 4.6 liter.so back to my original question!!!!!does it sound like the iac valve or the idle position sensor?

If it won't idle, but runs good otherwise, i would go with the iac valve.

the 300 I6 or 4.9 inline 6 went in in 65 and was in production until 96. My Brother inlaw has a 74 with an I6

well i fixed the problem.it wasnt the iac valve,it turned out to be bad spark plugs!!!!!!!!
