Post 97 4.6 automatic bad performance

I ran my 97 4.6 F150 on my G-tech and it ran a 17.48 @ 82.2 mph. Sure is a slow truck. Is this about right for a truck? My 97 Buick LeSabre 3.8 (non-supercharged) ran a 15.69 on the G-tech. I guess these trucks are pretty heavy and I didn't get very good traction.

97 4.6 F150, 88 5.0 Mustang 1/8 = 7.409 @ 93.72 mph

Thumbs up

How would that Buick run with a full load of brick in the back seat??? Your 97 F150 is a work truck, not a speed demon Although if you look around this message board you will find some trucks that their owners have made "improvements" too, that can fly!!! If that's what you want, then there are plenty of things you can do to improve those figures!!

Worried about your truck being slow? Get a superchip. I have noticed though that my 99' 4.6 is faster than my 97' 4.6l. Larry, get a superchip, or get a 5.4l. Anyways, what model truck? 4x4 or 4x4? Supercab or Regular cab? Long bed, short bed?

Tina,

I did not buy my truck for performance, however acceleration/weight is a measure of towing capacity. The truck does have more low rpm torque so I am sure it is a little better adapted for towing than my Buick. And you are absolutely right, my Buick probably won't do very well with full load of brick in the back seat, by golly.

Fast46Triton,

My truck is a regular cab, two wheel drive, longbed. The weight on the title is 3900 pounds. My LeSabre weight is 3500 pounds.

Your 1/4 mile times and trap speeds are really close to mine. I have some mods and about the same performance. If I get good traction I can break into the 16's but the trap speed is very similar.

LarryS; forget the weight on the title. I put mine on a digital scale at the local Air Force Base and it read 4720 with me on board (200 lbs) and 1/2 tank of gas.
