gage says no pressure and can hear ticking then gage turns on ticking stops . i thik sending unit just runs light but i dont think pump wolld go off& on help!!!!! gona try filter

 

Stop driving it until you get it diagnosed.

 

If it hasn't been serviced at proper intervals, it could be sludge stopping the oil pump screen up.

 

changed filter and oil ticked & no pressure for a couple min. then stoped drove 10 miles seems fine . hopeing it was the filter . will the oil pan be a easy removal truck has a four inch lift
the oil drained today wasnt that bad but i only drove it about 900 miles last year

 

will see in the morning when it cold again

 

Did the oil drain out in a nice, solid. fast stream?
If it were full of sludge it would of drained kinda slow and lumpy.

 

nice stream icould see threw it &new oil pan not a crumb hey the guy at the auto parts said filters have valves in them & they clog if it is the filter it would be a ********** joke ( fram )wonder if its made in the usa??

 

Never use Fram filters. The consensus is they are junk. They LACK the anti drainback valve and that means you have no oil at start up. Removing the pan while the engine is in the truck is nearly impossible.

 

i had a customer come in with a similar complaint. he would lose oil pressure after a while then he would get the pressure a little later. he had a windstar. it ended up being the oil filter. we changed it and we flushed the system just to be sure. it was one of those mileguard or whatever jiffylube uses

 

trucks runing great no ticking light off and has oil pressure . all i did was change oil&filter man i will swear by that 5.4 the noise it made & the way it sounds today glad im the one that started it that day .

 

Its Probably the Oil Pressure Sending Unit, too , Check it out before a $50 job becomes a $2000 job

Maybe run 5w 20 for a while to get thin oild flowing to everything
