Throttle Body Issues

I have a 2004 f150 FX4 5.4L w/ 78000 on it and i took my truck into Ford because no shop could figure out why the truck was randomly dying. Ford called me today and said that it was the throttle body that is the issue and the electronics. I am waiting for an estimate, but am sure it could probably just be cleaned and re installed, as well as the computer reset. What do you guys think?

Also if it does need to be replaced i know how to do so, but is there any type of reprogramming that needs to be done after the new install?

Expect the estimate to be about $600.

Electronic throttle body they added in 04.. There is a part they replace an electronic piece not the whole thing and glc is right its about $600.. Could try cleaning it or replacing it yourself. I dont think anyone carry's the part except the dealer so no mater what if you replace the part its going to be outrageous

Ya that is what i expected for the estimate. I can get a whole new throttle body for about $200 (factory) so i would rather just do that and replace it myself..

Watch eBay! I got a complete 'take off' throttle body for my 07 complete with the throttle motor and TPS unit for $150.00 shipped. Just did a 'plug and play' and works perfect. Now I have a cleaned spare if needed later
