5.4 liter advice

Im looking into buying a 97 f 150 xlt with a 5.4 liter engine in it. It has 195k miles on it but when i drove it, it seemed like it drove really well, how many more miles should i expect to get out of this truck if i do buy it?

As long as it's been maintained properly then it should have quite a bit of life left in it. There's a lot of 97-03 5.4's out there with 300,000 miles on them. I think the transmission would go out before the engine.

Would 2k be a good price to get it for? it has two small rust spots but no dents and has never been in an accident according to carfax, it looks like it has been really taken care of

Around here that's about average for the age and miles but wouldn't hurt to try and knock him down some. I just took a quick look on CL and found a Lariat Scab with 197,000 for $3200 then found an XLT Scab with a 4.6 with 150,000 for $2250.

I'd just make sure to check it over very good before buying it. Anything with that high of mileage is going to have a few problems that will need attention.
