Why are you buying MSD's? Waste of money. Are your stock coils starting to die?

In fact, buy the V-10 set so you have a couple spares:

First of all thanks for your reply glc and yes my stock cops are goin out which is why I was looking for some performance ones but all people have to say in a lot of threads is that they are a waste of money some people say they get good results but the majority of them don't...so that being said I might go with the motorcrafts you showed me because that's what the motor uses stock isn't it,cuz I know ford loves feeding of motorcraft so much, so a lot of people say

Thanks for the links by the way

them are not motorcraft coils in any of them links them are uneek. i would not wast a dime for one of them. unless you like spending alot of time under your hood trying to find the bad one when it goes out. i bought 8 and ended up with one good one every week one would go out.

I have heard of way to many problems with uneek and globals from Ebay lately. Being mine I would get original Motocraft, or I have heard of good results with the MSD coils. I really don't like chasing bad parts all the time. Original Motorcraft DG-511 are 45.79 ea at Rock Auto. The MSDs are similarity priced at Summit and supposedly a beefier coil. Your dime !!

There really isnt such thing as performance coils. There is no evidence of " performance" gains from ANY coil so no such thing.. The e-bay coils work just fine. LOTS of members of this board have used them with only a few failures and for the price they cant be beat. MSD stock motorcraft or any coil will have failures right out of the box to. I'd rather pay $10 for them then $50+

That's why you buy a V-10 set - so you have spares if any go out. They *ARE* lifetime warranty.......

You will have to rely on your 'gut' feeling and your wallet for your answer to this one. I was just stating my feeling on the subject..good luck as there is no "right" answer. Everyone has their own valid opinion here concerning plugs and coils, ultimately, the choice is yours.

Mann, some people really think they got it figured out out.

Some do!

Hint: - Post count matters here.

Not quite sure who that comment was directed to jbrew..as for me, you are one of the most respected individuals here in my book (among a few others). The OP just asked a legit question and I responded with my "gut" feeling. I don't like to give advise as gospel and have something fail for someone. And I could care less about 'post count', if I think I can contribute, I will try.

i havent been on here much lately but last i checked global and uneek both sell the same coil you get from a ford dealership without the motorcraft name and for a whole lot less $$$. if you dont trust them coils then go to napa and get the echlin coils(i dont like the cheap ones). they are a little better than the factory coils for a little bit less money and they dont give you crap for warranty situations. and you can pick them up anytime instead of waiting for the part to be shipped and what not. but you may also want to make sure it is the coils and not the plugs.

Never heard of Echlin coils. Motorcraft coils have puked out on me in the past. However, they do look identical to Globals Coils which are GAMMA's. I've been purchasing GAMMA's from Global since 2005 and haven't one go bad yet, - that's right, not even one.

I haven't tried Uneek or Echlin.

IMO, you can get a bad or a weak coil from any supplier. What you want to pay for them is up to you. In my case, I use the Global coils (GAMMA's) and get the 10 packs , just in case. Been lucky so far.

Personally, I think the best you can do is Global coils w/Granitelli connectors. I don't like cheap boots and connectors.

BTW - sam, no I wasn't singling you out.

Echlin is Napa's house brand.

Global is selling the DG511's again, but only singles and 8 packs, no 10 packs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-IGNITION-COI...item27b97f50e8

Here's how I feel about the whole thing -

Are Global Automotive and Uneek Supply's cops cheap? Yes. Have people had bad ones out of the box and/or had them fail? Yes. Have people had problems with their customer service and warranty procedures? Yes.

Why do I still recommend them? Because they are SO cheap and problems are NOT that widespread, they are well worth the chance in my opinion. You will pay the same amount for a whole set of 8 that you will pay for 1 or 2 anywhere else.
