What engine does it have? Theyre great trucks, ride nice and quiet and are dependable. Only big downfall I would say about them is they spit plugs out, but preventive maintenance and proper torque specs can easily stop that from happening. Other than that... again, dependable and fun to drive. The gas mileage is no worse than any other V8 out there. With the right driving habits and a good running engine, the 4.6 and 5.4 can see from 14-20 on average. Compare that to any other comparable V8 in its class and they hold their own. It's very common to see 200k+ out of these with no major issues. That's considering all the maintenance is kept up with. They love their motorcraft parts, especially oil and oil filters.

when I had a n/a (natural aspirated) truck I changed plugs and transmission fluid/filter at least once a year

with the forced induction trucks I change the plugs every few months...

The factory specs 100k mile plug changes when you use OEM platinum plugs. You should get at LEAST 60k out of them.

i have an 02 F150 lariat screw with a 5.4. everything runs great. bought it with 80,000 and changed plugs at 100,000. do oil changes every 3,000 miles even tho i use synthetic. have had no problems with it when driving it on road. um f'ed up my idle arm and sway bar bushing when i did some heavy off roading but other than that nothing broke. also it was a salvaged title vehicle but that didn't effect anything.
