Unhappy F-350 7.3 diesel

I have a 2003 f350 it appears to have a rear main seal leak. Would some have an idea of a cost ?? should I think about rebuilding or buying a long block exchange. perhaps sell it. DOT caught the leak. truck has 280,000 miles
cab is clean

thanks

That's my favorite as well. I've heard their expensive to build. I don't think the rear main is that bad to fix. The trans has to come out, I'd have to look up what needs to be done/ procedure.

If it is anything like the bed plate on the 6.0 the engine has to come out to fix it. Mine is leaking a little and the truck has 157k on it and the dealer tech told me dont worry about it until it really starts using oil. Was this an annual state inspection that caught the leak?

chances are its not a rear main. real common problem on the 7.3s the turbo o rings leak. have gone through about 2 or 3 sets on my dads. may wana try that first.

try powerstroke.org and powerstroke nation for info. it will take a full day start to finish if your not fimilliar
