i have a 97 xlt with a 4.6 in it. i removed the intake manifold looking for a cracked lower manifold ( it was cracked) but i found that both of the wires going to the knock sensor were broken of about 1in from the sensor.
i have two questions
(1) why didn't the pcm set some dtc's for this ???? the cel works, i have had it set codes before (0301 . 0308 ) replaced plug wires.
(2) how do i test the knock sensor with it off of the engine?
