Check for vacuum leaks and a clogged fuel filter.

if the 5.4 in your 2004 is the same as my 1999 5.4 its the o2 sencer . It's not that hard to replace it's just a 50 dollar part i change bank 1 sencer 2 on mine and it took about 5 mins

Thumbs up Code Bank

Here is a great link to help you investigate your code:

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...&vehCode=C_VIC

Once you are on the site enter your vehicle info and it will give you a fairly detailed list of information regarding any code.

Thats wrong. The o2 IS working its reporting a lean condition. He has a vacuum leak or a low fuel pressure issue replacing the o2 with this code would be a waste of money unless its got a lot of miles on it in witch case they should be changed anyway (both fronts.)

Sensor 2 is the downstream sensor, and it does not affect the way it runs at ALL - all it does is report on catalyst efficiency for emissions monitoring. You just shotgunned 50 bucks at nothing.
