Whistle Sound in Winter Time

Hello All,

I know last year there were posts about this. Folks said it was due to the throttle body.

Mine is a 2005 FX4 Extended Cab.

Has a repair or work around been figured out to stop the whistle?

Thanks

Tom

We have a 2006 lincoln, it has the same problem. Ford replaced the throttle body. It still has the whistle, from 1200-1400 rpm and again between 1800-2100rpm. Only until the truck fully warms up. And there still is no word on a fix from the local ford dealership. Truck is going back in monday for them too have a look at it.

I just noticed this today on my truck right after I started it to let it warm up. Lasted about 5 minutes then stopped.

this normaly happens with a CAI or some kind of intake mod but some stock trucks do it. its the cold air sprialing into the intake and TB

mine does it to i have a CAI right about 1800-2200 but below or above that no whistle. i dont mind it its not that loud.

It's a common issue and depending on how cold it is comes from two places on my truck. try wrapping the plastic intake joins with black tape to seal them (from the fender to the air cleaner). they seam to be two types of plastics and one really shrinks in the cold. You can get a whistle from that.

Has anyone else tried the above with any success?

Seems like a reasonable possibility. Though I remember folks saying it's been traced back the throttle body.

Thanks

Tom

Install a throttle body spacer... maybe it will cancel the whistling out! (just kidding ;-))

Mine does it too

Almost all info I've gathered leads to bearings in the alternator as the culprit. Most guys had alt replaced under warranty and never looked back.

This thing has more explanations than the Kennedy assassination.

My guess is air density. Colder = more dense = whistles on it's way through things. Mine does it too. Not going to worry about it. If something is truly broken, I'm going to know it.
