97' Expy w/start up engine noise

Hi, i have a 97' Expy EB 4x4 with the 5.4 I've had all kinds of F150's with 5.4's and have NEVER had this much engine noise upon start up. I have to let it run for at least 3-4min before i drive away. The engine quites right down after that . It has a knock or a major tick like its not getting any oil up top fast enough. I run GTX 5w20 and this last oil changed i added a qt of Lucas......no different. I know 5.4's have alot of ''piston slap'' noise but this is something different. any ideas before i replace the damn engine?

Check the PCV valve while it's making the noise - there's a chance.

I havent checked the PCV yet but plan to tomorrow when i start it up.
Also im using a Motorcraft 820s fliter So you think i should get rid of the Lucus? If its causing damage to the engine i will change it tomorrow to. The Lucus i used was like fricken honey. If anything it made it worse i think.

It thickens the oil which is what you do NOT want happening on cold starts - that's why Ford requires 5Wxx oil in a Triton.

I know you use Castrol, but try a load of Motorcraft 5w20 this time.
