That is nice ranger and the link does go there, but there's an F150 on the Dyno that has that motor in it. He has more vids, but he took them off.

I'll see if I can find them.

That sucks , I found the link, it was 2000 , but the guy deleted everything WTF -

My lightning swap project thread, pics and info!

There was a ton of info on this truck. But that is the truck on Dyno, that's the only vid left.

That would be nice but I really just want reliability at this point. I'm thinking I could get a low miles engine swap it into my truck fix my old engine and put it in my van that has 220k on it. There is the old saying that goes if aint broke dont fix it so I might wait until the vans engine actually breaks..

I called the dealer today they want $1030 labor plus parts to do it. I think the parts will be under $500. I'm going to think about it. I really dont want to do it. I might pay them and just get it done. Still thinking about it.

Yea, it didn't paste right.

Warranty pays 8.7 hrs w/ac

Standard pays 13. 9 hrs w/ac

Standard is what you go by. But like I said, that's pulling the engine and doing it. I can tell you right now, it depends on how busy they are whether or not the engine comes out.

I'm sure the engine pulling accounts for a good chunk of that.

What's average labor per hour ? $75 ?

I'll see if I can find a replace engine time.

I count 8 bolts, there might be 2 more. I can't see if there's two in the very front from what I'm looking at. Where it comes into the front cover.

I would think there would be 10. Cant be looking at much more then 250 in parts. I have new Denso iridium plugs new boots and remanufactured injectors I'm planning on installing. Might try conning them into doing that to..

By the time you pay a dealer to do the work plus parts you will be better off just installing a used engine. Theres a junk yard here in MI that sells complete 5.4 engines for $1200 with 60k or under. If you like your truck and its in good shape with no/minor rust. I wouldent think twice. I have a 97' Expy with the 5.4 and i having serious engine noise upon start up and im thinking about replacing the engine just because the expy is spot less! These days 97' Expy's or F150's that are rust free are rare here in MI.
