sometimes I get a high idle

I was on the road for about 30 minutes today, made a stop, put it in park, took off, and my idle wouldnt go below a grand. it just sat there while waiting at stop lights... this has been happening lately...

maybe an IAC cleaning???

Anything else weird happening? My alternator dying was a cause for high idling, but the battery light came on as well so........like built said, start with IAC cleaning. As a side note, once you've cleaned that, might as well clean the t-body and MAF sensor, but don't be surprised if the truck runs funny for the first bit. After cleaning, mine did, maybe to burn off the cleaner or whatever but was fine after that.

Rear mount IAC. Grease up the IAC by pulling the PCV tube/ saturate the inside w/deepcreep as close to the firewall as possible/ start/ put the coals to her a few times/ she's lubed lol

Make sure the battery is over 10.25 volts. Does idle fluctuate allot from vent to heat?

That's the best way, but watch that TB cleaner in the IAC. Blow it out with compressed air pretty quick. There's allot of rubber in that sensor around the plunger, -that's most likely why Ford says it isn't serviceable.

That's why I use "Deepcreep". It cleans and lube's without eating the important parts lol.

Don't forget to work that plunger back and forth while cleaning.

maybe an IAC cleaning???
Check all your grounds and clean your battery terminals. Maybe give your battery abit of a charge too (like me, you have alot of extras on that beast!). There is a set value for battery voltage in your PCM and if your voltage drops below that value, it will compensate by raising the idle. Mine was doing the same and I figured out that my efans were running to long, dropping the voltage and it would start idling up. I then set the fans up right for less draw (especially at idle)and the idle problem went away.

connections are good. I tested the cells on my battery at school and only one was just starting to get low... also when I roll up my windows and they top out, everything goes real dim....

Yea, those are different than the 5fours lol. The only thing I have done as far as cleaning the EGR valve is lubing the valve and pumping up to 5 hg's/ release/repump/release/repump and so on.

I'm not even sure that's called for tho. I haven't seen one get stuck, -ever. I've blew them up tho lol.

Sounds like a dying battery, but even still, cleaning the IAC is never a waste of time. About the alternator, alot of times even a new or rebuilt don't mean crap, I'm on my third, second lasted me a few months, then poof, dead diodes and whatnot. My bet is on the battery in this case.
