She's a squealer!

What would be the cause of a loud squealing noise from the engine , when i first start up and the engine is cold? once the engine is warm, the sound disappears. I haven't been able to p[in point the exact location, but figured it's a common problem.

I had 2 idler pulleys that did this, pissed me off every time so i put new bearings in all my blower idler pulleys, fixed it for a week, then an engine idler bearing started doing it, replaced all those bearings, problem fixed. Could be that or a belt? open the hood and find it

Are you guys talking about the Drivebelt (aka serpentine) that drives the alternator, water pump, power steering, air conditioner compressor?

Yes. If it's squealing, either it needs to be replaced or one or more of the pulleys it drives is shot. It could also be the clutch fan.

My truck is doing this same exact thing. When you start the engine and its been off for a while to where it's cold, it won't do it, but like if it's ballssssss cold in the morning it squeals....i checked all the belts they appeared to be in good condition too me so i thought it might be a pulley. it pretty much quits when i put it in drive or reverse, so im guessing it could be the idealer pulley. I can do little things right now on my truck, is this something that is fairly simple to change? How would i go about changing bearings?
