You are crazy if you think everything about these trucks are perfect. It's not. Chevy has made some sharp vehicles and their engines are capable of high horsepower with little mods I'm with punisher... can't wait to see this done
Me being a guy who spends time at car shows and happens to love the old Ford cars I can say every time I see a beautiful Model a model T or an really nice old Ford truck with a chebby engine in it I wanta vomit..
Ford made a ton of really great engines that may cost a few more bucks but there every bit as good as any chevy POS out there. The 351 Cleveland is cheap GOOD LOOKING and very high performance. The Windsor engines have nearly the after market parts availability chevy have.
Sorry the chevy engine deal in fords is lame and old.
If you want to build a chevy buy a chevy..

i'm the same way. i hate seeing fords with chevy engines or dodge with ford engines or chevy with dodge or whatever. i like fords but i'm not gonna go and put a ford engine in a camaro or chevelle, its stupid, every manufacture has great engines to build.

yeah, f150 it's not perfect
i have myself an 400ss that it's a special edition of the silverado/cheyenne 03'
however you want to tell them, It has the camaro 5.7 motor that came in camaro 96-99, 00?
that comes original on this truck, lemme tell you
IT HAS A LOT OF POWER, i drive it
then i drive the f-150 it has NONE power compared to the silverado
the silverado is fast and it doesn't use a lot of gas like the f 150
i prefer the silverado on performance, but the f 150 is more luxury and comfort

EVERY BRAND HAS ITS OWN THING.

don't be closed mind

I have owned a few chevys myself. 4 Camaros a couple of trucks. They make some nice machines. I dont have a problem with Chevys really. Its the lame I'm gonna put a chevy engine in a ford bla bla. Its been done. Try building something truly unique . I want a 351 Cleveland powered corvette. Just give one of those corvettes that lost there engine to nearly every Chevy out there. Cant recall how many times I've been told my Camaro has a vette engine or my truck. Heck had a pal who had a delivery truck he told me had a vette engine in it. Where are all these vettes with no motor? I want one to put a good Ford engine in it!

Why do i own a Ford? Umm, because im a grown man, needed a truck, and decided to buy one.

If you are above the age of 18 and you dont like something because its not the same brand name as your own, then you need to grow up. I understand the whole rivalry thing but it gets a little old, especially if its a newer model pick up truck. I can kind of understand if its a 67 Mustang or something.

Nobody has even asked why hes putting a chevy engine it, maybe he got a really good deal, maybe he prefers Chevy power plants and Ford Bodies.

Do a search for spark plugs on this site and do it over on a LSX forum and tell me why he would choose a Chevy eng over a Ford. I have owned both vehicles and they both have their strong and weak points.

Years ago, I had a friend that stuck a Toyota 20R into a Pinto - so there! It made it a hell of a lot more reliable.

I just don't see why a person would go to all the trouble. There are so many options to keep a Ford engine in the thing. Put a 5.4L Lightning engine in the thing and you'll blow the doors off any 400SS! You want a Chevy, that's fine, you're going to have a less expensive engine to deal with once it's all done, but a "better" engine is debatable?

I still say the new 6.2L Boss will prove out to be the better engine.

Kind of like 1970... the 302 Camaro -vs- the Boss 302 Mustang. Both are great, but I'd say the Ford had the better poweplant!

Your 400 is over a liter bigger than a 5.4(331) too. Since Ford's dealing with over liter less of displacement they gotta have something to even up the playing field! The 6.2 will still be smaller than a 400 but you gotta wait and see whose better then cause thats more even displacement! imo

I have always wanted to do this myself! Ya please keep a detailed build log i'm interested to see how it goes. I wonder how much difference in mounting there is in the 97-03's vs the 04-08's. We just did an LS2 swap in our 69 chevelle. All it has is long tubes and a magnacharger. It's pushing out well over 600 rwhp. The GM motors make way more power with way less money on mods. I would love to put and LS2 or 3 in my truck one day. Go buy a mustang and a camaro. Put the same amount of money into each of them and the ls car will rape it all day long. These modular motors just can't compete unless you drop a butt ton of money into them. Even then I would still take the lsx

ahh...yeah he said it was CHEAPER. ($1500.00) i think. i personally think everything chevy builds is cheap, not to say it wont last a while, but their cheap. cheap motors, cheap interiors, cheap cheap cheap.....i just don't think there put together good at all and GM people seem to have an arrogance about them that just lights my fuse because they own everything and the huge #of GM cars on the road but even tho they sale more than anyone they cant even keep from going bankrupt...And motortrend, C&D, R&T, etc. their all stuck up GM's butt...just like Nascar is!...jmo tho!

Yeah that is true...it def harder to make power with those smaller modular motors.....but at least go mopar over chevy. Chrysler has built sum of the strongest, bullet proof motors.(produce more power too) Basically my animosity toward Chevy is bc everyone thinks there so great, i like to go against the grain.
everyone loves chevy so much!
