Have code 1405 coming up

2001 Super Crew with 128000 miles. Changed the oil and after that the tack jumped around a bit. Turned it off and back on it was fine. Drove 200 miles and then the Service light came on. Took it to Auto Zone for a test and code 1405 came up. Has something to do with the ERG valve, book says the left front of the engine. Anyone know where this part is exactly? Any pics? Is there a issue with not changing this part out?

Thanks,
Bill

P1405 DPFE Sensor Upstream Hose Off Or Plugged

make sure the hoses are on it. your dpfe hoses are probably rotted, that or the dpfe itself broke/melted.
heres a pic of the dpfe(yours would probably be plastic)-

that pic is as small as photobucket will let me size it so i'm sorry if its too big.

Check this thread: EGR error codes It's most likely not the EGR valve (which is on the driver's side of the intake manifold; has a tube connecting to the top of the valve) but the DPFE sensor or connections to this or the valve.
Most issues with F150's have been discussed many times on here. Just use the search function and you'll get more information than you could imagine. If you still need help after researching, need to let everyone know what engine you have in your SCrew. Good luck!

Hi Matts Ford,
The picture is fine. Can you tell me where on the engine this is? I don't get under the hood enough so I need to ask. The one they had at AZ was plastic so it was black instead of the silver color in the pic.
Thanks

DO NOT BUY an Autozone DPFE if you think you need to replace it - buy ONLY a Motorcraft, either from a dealer or online.

The EGR valve is behind the DPFE in the pic, it's the round thing. Find that and you will see the DPFE. There are 2 vacuum hoses and an electrical connector on it.
