03-04 Cobra Motor in Expedition

Is this a direct bolt in? or would it be wiser to go with a Lightning motor instead? I know the Aviator has the 4.6L 4v? how hard would it be to get the 2v or 3v ecu to work with the 4v.

if moneys no object then get a 3valve v10, and 2 turbos, and go from there.

Yes it will bolt up, that's the beauty of the Modular engine. The only problem is that you will need to get the computer and wiring harness from the Cobra, and do all the plumbing yourself. If you plan on using the blower too, you might want to look into beefing up the transmission.

yes,the 4v 4.6L will bolt in, but with the time and money you'll spend getting it tuned and redoing the exhaust (cause the headers may not clear at least on f150s), you mite as well go all out and put v10 in there. just my 2 cents. easier to go with a lightning motor. Or, get a procharger, and custom tune in. again my 2 cents.

I don't know about that. The V10 will require a different transmission, and a much beefier rear axle, then you have to stuff that long ass engine into the engine compartment. At least with the Cobra engine, he can keep his original block and just use the Cobra heads and rotating assembly.

Yea, but can't I flash the ECU to use the 4v? ill probably use the Lightning tranny, if not, then Ill get one custom built, I am assuming a Lightning Motor would be easier. cause its a 2v SOHC.

If you're going to use a Lightning tranny, you might as well use a Lightning engine.

Everything will bolt up, and you will need a custom tune for the computer. It would be interesting to see what a 4.6 liter computer would do to a supercharged 5.4, probably very expensive thing...

Of course. You might want to acquire the 9.75 rear axle if you can, just in case the 8.8 were to detonate.

so practically everything from the lightning should swap right over, from the engine, harness and ecu? now it be a different story with the Cobra engine, I mean I am sure its possible but, I mean look at the kid doing the GT500 swap into his F-150 he'd probably run into the same issue, everything bolts up but its a matter of getting the ecu to work.

I mean I could always get a custom made ecu but then that would be more money as well.

NO HE WILL NOT NEED THE COBRA ECM, he can have his stock ECM tuned since he needs the stock ecm for his dash and transmission

Stillen GLE

a terminator cobra 4.6 will bolt directly in, he wil have to use shorty or mid lenght as long tubes will not clear for obvious reasons

a 3 valve motor will work as long as he disables the VTC and then he might as well grab some custom ground cams and enjoy it

a V-10 will need a different ECM but he can get a stand alone box for the 4r70 and beef up his current trans...

a lightning eaton on a 5.4, behind a n/a 4.6 ecm with no tune would be completly retarded do not even consider it
