I have a 2002 f150 4x4. Since summer started, my trucks performance seems to have taken a fall. In the mornings my truck runs normal the way it should run. Then during the afternoon and evenings when temps are around 100 to 108 degrees my truck is very sluggish on take offs. i have an edge tuner and when im monitoring the IAT(Intake Air Temp) in the evenings its around 130 to 150 degrees F. im wondering if thats the reason for the sluggish take offs. any input will help. thanks

Any input ? Just a tip, -learn how to punctuate, capitalize and proof read. It's a PITA reading and/or trying to figure out what your saying. You'll get more replies that way.
I'm going to guess a cold air after market unit that gets the air from under the hood is on yer engine. There's yer problem or the Edge is reading the ambient temps wrong. If the ambient is 100-108F, there's no way that they will be 150F at the intake unless you are getting air from under the hood.
The biggest culprit is usually the MAF- It gets dirty. If your running a Oiled filter, that makes matters worse. Also you need to run Motorcraft plugs in the 02.
Cold air system, completely sealed air box with DRY element is best.
Don't forget to update your forward O2's and coils every so often.
My 98 runs great just with simple updating and maintenance.
If the IATs are in fact that high, the pcm will pull timing which will make for a sluggish feeling.
I live in the extreme heat as well. So far the highest IAT I have seen with my Scangauge is 123*, in traffic with 105* ambient temp.
So, is it really 130* or 150*?
when is the last time it had maintainence and what was done?
Sorry guys for not responding back to your questions earlier. Here's what my truck has and what I've done to it or what it has as of Mods. 1) I recently changed the spark plugs about three months ago with motorcraft plugs. 2) When I bought the truck, it had a K&N air filter with a aftermarket air intake tube. The filter sits right in the engine compartment. So I'm guessing that it's picking up to much hot air from the engine. Ive been trying to look for a stock air intake for my truck. The truck just got over 100,000 miles. I guess it would be a good idea to change the o2 sensors. what else should I do with the truck.
